  • Διαγνωστικά καλύπτει ευρύ φάσμα ψυχοπαθολογικών καταστάσεων (ψυχωτικές διαταραχές, διαταραχές συναισθήματος, αγχώδεις, σωματοποιητικές, όπως επίσης και μας προσφέρει σημαντικά στοιχεία για τις διαταραχές προσωπικότητας).
  • Προσφέρει ένα δομημένο προφίλ ψυχοπαθολογίας, που μπορεί να συμπληρώσει ή να επιβεβαιώσει την κλινική εκτίμηση του ψυχιάτρου.

  • Σε αξιολόγηση επικινδυνότητας ή τάσεων αντικοινωνικής συμπεριφοράς
  • Για ανίχνευση προσποίησης (malingering), υπερβολής έκφρασης ή περιορισμένης έκφρασης της υποκείμενης συμπτωματολογίας και γενικότερα κλινικής εικόνας.
  • Αν υπάρξει επαναχορήγηση, μπορεί να αξιολογηθεί:
  • Η μεταβολή των συμπτωμάτων μετά από φαρμακευτική ή ψυχοθεραπευτική παρέμβαση.
  • Η σταθεροποίηση ή απορρύθμιση της προσωπικότητας σε χρόνια περιστατικά.
  • Το ΜΜΡΙ-3 μετρά διαστάσεις ψυχοπαθολογίας — δηλαδή βαθμούς έντασης συμπτωμάτων, συναισθηματικών καταστάσεων και χαρακτηριστικών προσωπικότητας.
  • Δίνεται στην συνέχεια παράδειγμα σφαιρικής «διαστασιακής εκτίμησης», με την χρήση του ΜΜΡΙ-3, σε ασθενή μετά από διάγνωση κατά ICD-10, F1 Μέτριας βαρύτητας καταθλιπτικό επεισόδιο.
  • Δεν προσεγγίζεται κατηγορικά η κατάθλιψη, δηλαδή με την διαγνωστική μορφή «F1 Μέτριας βαρύτητας καταθλιπτικό επεισόδιο», αλλά καταδεικνύεται σε ποιο βαθμό εκδηλώνονται συμπτώματα που σχετίζονται με την κατάθλιψη (π.χ. δυσφορία, απώλεια ενέργειας, απαισιοδοξία κ.α.).
  • Αρχικά προσδιορίζεται η γενική συναισθηματική δυσλειτουργία — δηλαδή, το πόσο εκτεταμένα και επίμονα το άτομο βιώνει αρνητικά συναισθήματα, όπως θλίψη, ανησυχία, χαμηλή αυτοεκτίμηση και εσωτερική ένταση (διαστασιακή προσέγγιση α’ τάξης): Κλίμακα «Συναισθηματικής Δυσλειτουργίας / Εσωτερίκευσης». Εδώ μάλιστα μπορεί να υπάρξει και διαφοροδιάγνωση σχετικά με το αν υπάρχουν ψυχωτικά στοιχεία (εκτίμηση της Κλίμακας «Δυσλειτουργία της Σκέψης»
  • Στην συνέχεια προσδιορίζονται βασικές συνιστώσες της καταθλιπτικής διαταραχής (διαστασιακή προσέγγιση β’ τάξης): Κλίμακες «Αποθάρρυνσης», «Χαμηλού Θετικού Συναισθήματος», «Δυσλειτουργικών Αρνητικών Συναισθημάτων»
  • Προσδιορίζονται μετά διάφορα πιο ειδικά συμπτώματα ή σημεία της διαταραχής (διαστασιακή προσέγγιση γ’ τάξης):
  • Εσωτερικευμένα προβλήματα: Κλίμακες «Αυτοκτονικού ιδεασμού», «Απελπισίας», «Αυτό-αμφισβήτησης», «Άγχους» κ.α.
  • Διαπροσωπικά προβλήματα: Κλίμακες «Κοινωνικής αποφυγής», «Ντροπαλότητας»
  • Χαρακτηριστικά προσωπικότητας: Κλίμακες «Αρνητικού Συναισθήματος / Νευρωτισμού», «Εσωστρέφειας / Χαμηλού Θετικού Συναισθήματος»
  • Το σύνολο των παραπάνω Κλιμάκων εκτιμώνται ανάλογα με τα επίπεδα των ανυψώσεων τους, δηλαδή το κατά πόσο και σε τι βαθμό διαπιστώνονται στον συγκεκριμένο ασθενή.
  • Όλα τα παραπάνω συνεκτιμώνται με τις «Κλίμακες Εγκυρότητας» καθώς και με τις «Απαντήσεις Κρίσιμου Περιεχομένου», οι τελευταίες μάλιστα λειτουργούν και ως μετρήσεις «άμεσης παρέμβασης».
  • Με το σύνολο των παραπάνω μετρήσεων (ίσως και κάποιων άλλων Κλιμάκων, οι οποίες δεν σχετίζονται άμεσα με καταθλιπτικές διαταραχές), μας δίνεται η δυνατότητα διαστασιακής εκτίμησης σχετικά με το μέγεθος και τις συνιστώσες της διαταραχής, όπως αυτές εμφανίζονται στον συγκεκριμένο ασθενή.
